North Tongu Member of Parliament has expressed concern about the imbalance in Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-current Addo’s Cabinet. On June 10, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-NPP Addo’s government announced a 19-member Cabinet for his second term.

The list, however, only included two women: Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, Cecilia Dapaah, and Hawa Koomson.

In a Facebook post, the lawmaker expressed surprise that the list has 16 men and only three women in an era when inequality is being fought at the highest levels.

“Only three women out of 19 cannot be acceptable in 2021,” he said.

Many progressive countries, including Rwanda, Ethiopia, South Africa, Canada, and Columbia, have surpassed us in terms of appointing gender-balanced cabinets. Even the Gender Minister did not make the cut. Let us do better.”
