Celebrated academic, Professor Adams Bodomo has asserted that the Akufo-Addo government deserves no credit for the election of Ghana into the UN Security Council, insisting that Ghana already has a good reputation enough to get elected without the input of the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP).

Ghana and four other countries have been elected into the UN Security Council for the 2022-2023 term. The other countries are Albania, Brazil, Gabon and the United Arab Emirates.

Some have praised the NPP Government for working to ensure that Ghana gets elected into the UN body. But for Prof Bodomo, the government deserves no such credit.

“Nkrumah’s Ghana has such a good reputation worldwide that whoever is in power in Accra can ride on that reputation to win votes at the comity of nations.

I wont credit anything to this highly incompetent and corrupt Addo NPP government because of Ghana’s election into a short term membership of the UN Security Council yesterday!

I wont say that BECAUSE of the Addo government we got elected. I’d say that INSPITE of the current useless government in Accra we still got voted into this slot at the UN,” he lashed out on social media.

The UN Security Council

“The Security Council is a body of 15 members, five of which are permanent and have veto power: the United States, United Kingdom, France, Russia and China.

The newly elected five will join India, Ireland, Kenya, Mexico and Norway, the other non-permanent members,” the UN said on its website.
