Ghanaians call for a ban on ‘mallams’ advertising for money rituals on TV and radio

It could be recalled that two teenagers were arrested on Saturday 3rd April 2021 for the murder of a 10-year-old boy identified as Ishmael. According to reports in the media, the suspects Felix Nyarko and Nicholas Kini had killed the boy for money rituals.

After the sad incident, controversies around it have been channelled to the incessant TV adverts on the Ghanaian free-to-air television stations where some self-acclaimed fetish priests, mallams entreat people to come for that quick money.

According many Ghanaians the continuous ‘get rich quick’ messages being circulated by mallams and money ritualists who advertise their services and products on TV and radio on daily basis.

They are however calling for a total ban on the fake mallams and juju adverts on many TV and radio stations in Ghana.
