President Adama Barrow has taken the lead in receiving his coronavirus vaccine as the Gambia prepares to begin national vaccinations.

The west African country has obtained 36,000 doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine as part of the Covax initiative, with a population of 2.1 million people.
On Thursday, the country’s vice-president, the Imam of Banjul, the city’s Bishop, and the World Health Organization’s representative were also immunized.
