Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo announces plans for reopening of cinemas

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has stated that the Ghana Healt Service (GHS) and the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) will announce the modalities for the re-opening of cinemas in the coming weeks.

He stated this during his address to the nation on the management of the outbreak in the country on Sunday, May 16, 2021.

President Akufo-Addo stated that the protocols are critical to ensuring the safety of patrons and all industry participants.

He stated that before the industry could be reopened, cinema operators would have to fully comply with the agreed-upon modalities and protocols.

“In order to facilitate the reopening of cinemas and theaters, the government has worked with cinema owners and operators to develop a set of protocols and guidelines that must be put in place and followed by all operators prior to the eventual reopening.

“In the coming weeks, the Ghana Health Service and the Ghana Tourism Authority will announce these protocols and mandatory modalities, and will collaborate with operators on a set of directives that will ensure the health and safety of all patrons and staff in all facilities involved.”

President Akufo-Addo expressed optimism that everything will return to normal if the GHS and GTA safety protocols are followed.
